The department represents the City in litigation cases involving:

• Slips and falls
• Pothole claims
• Automobile accidents involving a City vehicle
• Property damage claims
• Personal injury claims
• Civil rights violations

The department also reviews contracts between vendors and city departments to ensure that proper procedures are followed and executed by the parties and handles workers’ compensation matters and handles Freedom of Information requests.
