The City Clerk, as clerk of the municipal corporation, is responsible for maintaining, recording and filing city records, ordinances and notices, including:

• Births, marriages and deaths occuring in Fall River
• Licenses and permits

• Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board decisions and appeals

• Campaign finance reports 

• Claims and lawsuits against the City

• Collecting payments of non-criminal citations

As the Clerk of the City Council, the City Clerk is also responsible for seeing to it that:

• The meetings are properly called
• A quorum is recorded as being present
• Resolutions and ordinances are properly introduced, given the required number of readings, and are duly signed
• Legal ads are printed when required
• Public hearings properly scheduled

The City Clerk also certifies all votes of the City Council as well as the records of appointments, removals, and resignations of all elected and most city officials, including constables.
