The Traffic and Parking Division of the Fall River Police Department is divided into three work groups; traffic maintenance, parking meter maintenance and parking enforcement.

Traffic maintenance is responsible for the placement and maintenance of regulatory signs, handicap signs, street name signs, painting of crosswalks and other activities that evolve from signage placement for newly ordained City Ordinances.
Parking meter maintenance is responsible for the collection of monies from parking meters and the erection and maintenance of these meters.
The parking enforcement division is responsible for the issuing of parking tickets.
The Director of Traffic and Parking Control, Laura Ferreira, oversees these groups and reports directly to the Administration and the Chief of Police. She also serves as Parking Clerk and hearings officer. The other function of this position is to attend meetings of the Traffic Commission in order to tender advice or relate findings in matters of proposed traffic ordinances.
The Traffic Commission is an advisory board to the City Council and is appointed by the Mayor. The board meets once a month on a date decided at the close of the meeting. |
