Curbside
Program
|
The
City of Fall River provides curbside recycling to all residences that
receive regular trash pickup. The Fall River program services approximately
31,000 households. Weekly collection from these 31,000 households
is accomplished with six recycling trucks and a hard working staff
of DPW workers.
|
Materials
|
The
following materials comprise the acceptable materials and items for
the curbside program. ALL
ACCEPTABLE PLASTIC, GLASS, AND METAL SHOULD BE PLACED IN YOUR BLUE
RECYCLING BIN. Also
included on this page are the most common UNACCEPTABLE items.

PLASTIC
 |
What
to Recycle
- Plastic bottles and containers labeled with a 1 or 2.
- Accepted containers have a top that is smaller than the bottom
or a screw-on lid.
How to Prepare
- Lightly rinse
- May flatten to save space
- Remove lids and caps

The
following plastic items are UNACCEPTABLE for the curbside program:

NO
Plastic bags
NO motor oil or chemical containers
NO cardboard juice or milk cartons
NO cups, tubs, deli, cake, or cookie containers.

GLASS

What
to Recycle
- Clear, green, and brown bottles and jars
How to Prepare
- Lightly rinse
- Labels are OK
- Lids and Collars are OK
|

The
following Glass items are UNACCEPTABLE for the curbside program:

NO
broken glass
NO other glass items such as window glass, dishes, glasses,
Pyrex, ceramics, light bulbs, or mirrors |

METAL
 |
What
to Recycle
- Tin/Steel cans
- Aluminum cans including deposit and non-deposit beverage cans
How to Prepare
- Lightly rinse
- Labels are OK

The
following Metal items are UNACCEPTABLE for the curbside program:

NO
wire hangers
NO paint or aerosol cans
NO cans containing hazardous materials
NO other metal items |

PAPER
 |
What
to Recycle
- Newspapers with inserts
- Brown paper bags
- Junk mail, magazines, catalogues, office paper and computer
paper
- Corrugated cardboard
How to Prepare
- Paper must be clean and dry
- Place all materials in brown paper bags or bundle with string
- Place on top or side of recycling bin

following Paper items are UNACCEPTABLE for the curbside program:

pizza boxes or cereal boxes
NO soiled paper
NO plastic bags
NO waxed paper or waxed cardboard
NO cardboard juice or milk cartons |

Recycling
Drop-off Program
This program is available to residents only.
COMMERCIAL
MATERIALS ARE NOT ALLOWED
Please speak with the office staff before dropping off any materials.
The DPW
provides a recycling drop-off facility for various recyclable items.
This site is located at the DPW Complex on 10 Lewiston St. (off Rodman
St.). The following materials may be dropped off at the DPW complex:
