The The Bank Street Neighborhood Association (BSNA) was established in 1999 by concerned citizen Natalie Melo in response to an eruption of violence in the neighborhood. She bravely decided that her family and their home were worth fighting for.
With the guidance of another neighborhood association president, Natalie enlisted the help of fellow neighbors and started monthly meetings with the police department and mayor's office to address issues of crime and vandalism in the neighborhood. And so it began…the birth of the Bank Street Neighborhood Association.
What started as a neighborhood watch program to aid police in thwarting crime has evolved into a network of dedicated neighbors and friends working together to make their small piece of Fall River a little safer, a little cleaner and a whole lot more optimistic about its future.
Currently the BSNA meets monthly with its members and representatives from the Fall River Mayor's office, the Special Operations division of the Fall River Police Department and the Bristol County District Attorney's office. BSNA meetings are free and open to the public and the BSNA is always looking for new volunteer's to help expand its mission throughout the city in conjunction with Fall River's other neighborhood associations.
The BSNA's motto "a clean neighborhood is a safe neighborhood" is a principle that applies to all neighborhoods throughout the community. If you are a resident of Fall River and feel alone to deal with issues of crime and vandalism in your neighborhood, BSNA wants to help. Please contact us or come to one of our meetings. Together we can build a stronger, safer community for our families.
