The City Clerk, as clerk of the municipal corporation, is responsible for maintaining, recording and filing city records, ordinances and notices, including:


  • Collecting payments of non-criminal citations


As the Clerk of the City Council, the City Clerk is also responsible for seeing to it that:


  • The meetings are properly called
  • A quorum is recorded as being present
  • Resolutions and ordinances are properly introduced, given the required number of readings, and are duly signed
  • Legal ads are printed when required
  • Public hearings properly scheduled


The City Clerk also certifies all votes of the City Council as well as the records of appointments, removals, resignations and recalls of all elected and most city officials, including constables.
