City Collectors Office---Responsible for the mailing, collection and processing of all Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise and Boat Excise Tax Bills for the City of Fall River. 508-324-2240

Water and Sewer bills are currently paid through the Collectors Office but are mailed and processed in the Water Department.

Real Estate and Personal Property taxes are quarterly and the due dates are August 1st, November 1st, February 1st and May 1st of any given fiscal year.

When taxpayers are delinquent a demand notice is sent showing the amount owed and a demand is made for its payment. If taxes still remain unpaid, a warrant is issued to collect said tax, with additional interest and costs added. If tax is still delinquent on Real Estate Tax Bills, the City advertises the property in our local newspaper and if not paid within fourteen days, must put a lien on the property with the Registry of Deeds. The property is now in Tax Title and is given over to the City Treasurer’s for collection.

Applications for municipal lien certificates are processed through the Collectors Office. This certificate shows the amount of taxes and other assessments including Water Rates and charges that are outstanding as of a certain date.
